light the way dance convention

FAQ

Co-produced by Louise Telford and industry icon Kelley Abbey, the 2022 inaugural convention was something Australia had never seen before. Bringing together the biggest and most successful names in the business under one roof to inspire and educate the next generation of Australian dancers is something both Louise & Kelley are very passionate about and they were thrilled at the success of the event in 2022. It is so important that the dancers of today learn from the icons of the Australian dance industry and they are once again bringing them together all under one roof, on one weekend!

The Light The Way Dance Convention will be a celebration of dance like the industry has never seen before. The venue of the Sydney Coliseum has been chosen with the evening shows in mind. We want to give the young dancers, pre-professionals and current professionals of today the opportunity to perform in this state of the art multi-million dollar theatre. There are three shows over the weekend, with multiple opportunities for Australian dance studios to take part in this celebration of dance. For more information regarding performance opportunities please email hello@lightthewaydancecollective.com

If you’re a student whose studio is performing in one of the evening shows at LIGHT THE WAY DANCE CONVENTION, you only have to purchase a performance ticket if you have NOT purchased a 2-DAY or 3-DAY convention pass. The cost of the performance ticket is $45 per student.

We have fantastic group booking incentives for studios and studio owners including discounted group rates, FOC tickets, accommodation and much more. Please contact Louise Telford for more information hello@lightthewaydancecollective.com

Parents/caregivers and siblings can purchase a 1-Day, 2-Day or 3-Day Spectator pass which will enable them to watch the workshops in any age group at the convention. Please note some rooms where the workshops are taking place may reach capacity for spectators depending on numbers.

The spectator passes do not include access to Illuminate Performing Arts Gala on Sunday 9 June 2024, these tickets can be purchased separately through Ticketek.

Light The Way Dance Convention is held at Sydney Coliseum Theatre, West HQ. The venue has a fantastic array of eating establishments in their Eat Street Food Court and Chuu by China Doll. Food can purchased in the club, however please note that children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. There are also concession stands to purchase sandwiches, snacks and drinks in the foyer of the theatre.

Dancers are to wear whatever dance clothes they feel comfortable in. Please bring a jumper for warmth in between classes, water bottle, snacks, all dance shoes including Tap Shoes.

For all our workshops parents can purchase spectator passes that will enable them to watch their children dance in the workshops. If you want to drop off and pick up please note that students must be signed into West HQ by an adult and taken directly to their workshop room. For the MINI ROOM we will have staff members there to take the children to the toilets if needed, however with the volume of students we cannot take responsibility for students all day. In the lunch break they will need to be collected and taken for lunch by a parent/guardian as the room will not be supervised. If you do not want to purchase a Spectator pass, you will be issued a wristband on arrival that will enable you to get to the workshop room to drop off/pick up but not enter. There are 10 -15 min breaks between each class and the students will stay in the room. They can bring drinks and snacks for the day.
